Almond pastes, symbols of Sicilian pastry
Sicilian almond pastries are one of the symbols of the island's pastry , spread in different shapes and tastes throughout Sicily .
They are pastries with very ancient origins, in fact it seems that this dessert was born at the end of the 1100s in the Martorana convent in Palermo.
We can find them with almond , pistachio and hazelnut ices, but all are rigorously based on almonds, sugar, egg whites and a slight citrus scent.
Their golden and crunchy surface hides a sweet and soft heart. They are excellent to consume during a small relaxing break, together with a hot drink or at the end of a meal accompanied by coffee.
